[April 14- April 22]

Hi Guys and Gals!
Hope all is well. It has been a cold and dreary week here at How I Roll. The sun hasn't been out in days and I'm starting to miss it. I don't know about you guys but there is something refreshing about a rainy day so normally I LOVE when one shows up. That's just the point though...I love when ONE shows up, not a whole week.
Well anyhow, here are some of the snapshots I've taken since the last time I posted. Enjoy :)

14. How you feel today. Lazy. Wanna stay in my pj's kinda day.

15. sunset from on the parkway. Beautiful. How can there not be a God who loves each and every one of us. (Ignore the blur, it's what I like to call the cell-phone-moving-moving-car effect)

16. my flower earrings.

17. this is our money counter at work and would definitely count as something you don't like. It works some days, and not others...so annoying to have to count money by hand.

18.One of the boys at work walked by and made the cabbage some hair. I laughed for a good 5 minutes :)

19. orange. Don't judge my feet!!

20. something you drew

21. old coke bottles at a local thrift store. My mom and I went yardsaling and thrifting today. No good finds though :/

22. the last thing you bought. Can't go wrong with gummy worms. Ever.

YOU are wonderfully made,

Bees?

So today as I was getting ready for work my mom RUNS into my room and says "YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS, COME HERE!" She is half disgusted and half completely freaked out, so in my bathrobe I walk to the window and look out.

All I can see from three stories up is that something, rather large, is hanging from a branch in the back yard. I proceed to ask her what the heck that is?? She replies---bees.

We knew there was, what we thought was a small infestation in the hollow of one of the trees. Turns out that little hollow was overcrowded so about half of them came swarming out of the tree onto this branch. She just happened to be outside doing some yard work and said she heard them swarm out. Ummm, no thanks!!!

This thing is AT Least 2 feet long. CRAZINESS

Ew, ew, ew.

They split into two different little colonies after about 15 mins.

Really gross, but actually really cool to see. God, I understand bees and what they do for the world but I'm not really understanding why they had to come infest our yard.

We're gonna call a beeman and hopefully get him here tomorrow because apparently Honey Bees are almost extinct and they will take them away for free!!

He makes ALL things, creepy and crawly,

Refashioned Sailor Skirt.

I am pretty excited about this post because it features a project that has been sitting in my closet just itching to be completed! :)

As I was wandering around Goodwill one day I came across this pattern...

Cute right??
And I thought "I'm going to buy this and do something with it." Not really having a plan of action but I just knew I loved this pattern and wanted to make something out of it. The shirt is a size L and I normally wear S  so project number one.
Next, I came across a hideous skirt that came up above my belly button and fell right above my ankles (Picture this with me) but was the exact same shade of blue as on the shirt. Not quite my size either, but considering how perfect they went together I embarked on my  mission.

Meet old, ugly, outdated skirt.

(Inside out view)

First I cut out all that ridiculous lining that does nothing but cling to you even more.

Next, I cut the skirt to my desired length and left the pockets in tact.

Then I pinned across the bottom and sewed it using a straight stitch.

This was the final outcome of both the shirt and skirt together. What do you think??

Pair with another cute summery top and go!

BTW- I really hate taking posed picture so I apologize that they are a tad awkward. But awkward does define me so...whatevs!

Obsessions.

So to bring you all laughter and some dirt to use about me ;) , here are some of my obsessions as of late.

1. GLITTER- anything glitter...nail polish, headbands, shoes, earrings. I just can't help myself when glitter is involved. I hope I don't ever have to grow out of this obsession because I'm not sure I could ever come to terms with it!

2. Burt's Bees Pomegranate Lip Balm- It is the perfect chapstick for me. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Once you find that one right lip balm your lips just thank you over, and over again. It also has a slight color to it, so it brightens up my pale white skin.

3.Running- I have gotten back in the habit of running, and let me tell you- nothing quite beats a stressful day than taking a short run around the neighborhood. Not to mention these shoes make you look pretty cool while you're doing it. ;) Still haven't gotten around to actually purchasing these but man, I love them.

4. Cops- This one is bad and kind of embarrassing but there is something about that uniform that gets me every time. We have quite a few officers that eat in Chick-fil-A all the time and boy does my face turn the color of a tomato anytime one of them is in there. One of those silly girl crushes. Swoon.

5. Kitties- Another one of those things that no matter how bad a day you might have these little creatures have a way of bringing a smile to my face and laughter to my heart.

6. Britt Nicole's New Album---GOLD. Her songs are great and if you enjoy an upbeat dance in your seat, bedroom, sidewalk, anywhere kind of music you'll love her. If you like all that calm mumbo jumbo, she really isn't for you but her songs can remind anyone of God's love and who He really is.

What are some of your obsessions???

Chicken Fajitas

Today is an exciting day on How I Roll............drum roll please................my very first recipe post.

Like I've said before, I despise cooking. I hate taking the time to prepare something and then having to wait for it to be done (my impatient side coming out). But when I do cook, on the rare occasion, I have a few favorite recipes. Chicken Fajitas being one of them.

Ingredients:
1 pack--boneless chicken breasts
1 pack--whole wheat tortillas
1- orange bell pepper
1- yellow bell pepper
1- red bell pepper
1/2 packet of fajitha seasoning
dash of red pepper seasoning.
1 cup of olive oil (or your preferred cooking oil)
1 cup of white or whole wheat rice

Step One---
Slice up your chicken and peppers into thin strips.

Step Two---
Combine oil, fajita seasoning and peppers in a skillet to begin cooking. Add chicken after the peppers are at your personal desired texture (personally I like mine still a little crisp) and cook until the chicken is cooked thoroughly.

Step Three---
Begin cooking rice (follow box instructions) when you put your chicken into the skillet. The chicken takes the least amount of time to cook so 5 minute rice works well to cook at the same time as the chicken. Add a dash of red pepper seasoning to your rice to spice it up a bit.

Step Four---
Place chicken, peppers and rice into a tortilla
Top with your favorite dressing or sauce (mine is ranch)

  and Enjoy!!!

Catching up

So I thought that maybe the photo a day challenge would help me keep up with this a little more frequently but life just has a way of getting so busy!
I managed to take a photo or use an old photo for every day but actually featuring said photo is a little bit more difficult.

3- Mail....I got NOTHING in the mail today....can you believe that?? What a shame!

4- Someone who makes you happy. What about this picture doesn't make you smile??? :)

5- tiny bridge in Rockbridge Co. such a beautiful place!!

<<<<Well, there was a picture of a Caesar Wrap here but it has disappeared. Sorry :(>>>>>

6-lunch at Chick-fil-A?? That NEVER happens. (Sarcasm intended)

7- Henry and I's shadows on the Parkway on one of our many, many epic drives. The wind was a little crazy.

8- inside your wallet.

9. Younger You. 8th grade--check out that middle part, fake nails, and glittery dress.

10. This was about how cold it was here in the valley today.

11. where you ate breakfast: sitting on my kitchen counter.

12. my stairs at home

13. something you found at Chick-fil-A today, my two best friends from college surprised me! :)

I don't want to over load you all with photos so here is to get you a little caught up. I have some exciting things to post in the next few days so stay tuned.

Not everything is black and white....

Sometime's there is grey!

This time of year constantly bring this hymn to my mind. I don't like hymns, not much at all. But this is my ALL TIME favorite one.

It only takes a spark to get a fire going.
And soon all those around, can warm up in glowing.
That's how it is with God's love,
Once you've experienced it, you spread His love to everyone;
You want to pass it on.

What a wondrous time is spring, when all the trees are budding;
The birds begin to sing, the flowers start their blooming.
That's how it is with God's love;
Once you've experienced it, you want to sing
"It's fresh like spring"; you want to pass it on.

I wish for you my friend, this happiness that I've found.
You can depend on Him, it matters not where you're bound.
I'll shout it from the mountain top
I want the world to know; the Lord of love has come to me,
I want to pass it on.

Pass it on,

Photo of the Day

Have you guys heard of this photo of the day challenge??

I think it's pretty cool. I saw this featured on FatMumSlim
The list gives you a word of the day and you are supposed to use your own creativity to take a picture that defines or shows that word. I'm going to attempt to do this for the month of april.

So here's my first one----
April First

Your reflection in a phone.

Wanna join?
I'd love to see your photos of the day as well :)
